Megan Pizor, LMI’s General Counsel and Director of Thought Leadership, will be speaking on a panel at the ACI Drug and Medical Device Litigation Conference on December 9, 2020. The session titled “Understanding the Use of Data Analytics in the Management of MDLs,” will discuss a newly embraced idea of an initial census process.
We met with Megan and put together a short interview for you to learn about her role at LMI along with her interests and passions.
What is your role at LMI?
MP: I am the General Counsel and Director of Thought Leadership – an interesting mash up, right? Aside from my GC role where I perform typical GC duties of providing counsel to my team on compliance and risk management, I stay ahead of key legal trends and technology to help direct the content we provide to our clients and the legal community. I love learning about new emerging tech trends from legal tools to fitness apps. There is always something new coming to the market.
How did you discover your interest in technology?
MP: For most of my career, my roles have been intertwined with technology. Initially working in the operations department at LMI, I was involved in the development and implementation of our case management and data analytics tools. Learning the steps required to launch these complex online tools more than sparked my interest. Working for a legal service provider has really positioned me well to see big transitions in the legal industry first hand. I get super excited anytime a new planning tool or tracking app is launched. I’m definitely not short on reading material.
What are your passions outside of your professional role?
MP: Running and reading are my lifelines. I’ve always leaned on the escape of going on a good run or falling deep into a novel, but living through this pandemic has proven these passions tenfold.
